How to download and read your ebook

Every ebook you buy from us comes as two files – a PDF and an EPUB – and you can read it on your phone, tablet, Kindle or computer. Getting it takes about a minute. Here's how it works.

The three steps

    Buy the book

    Pay as normal. Type your email address carefully – it's where your download link is sent. No account or password is needed.

    Open your download page

    Straight after paying you'll see a button that says Download your Ebook. Tap it. We also email you the same link, so you can come back any time.

    Tap a file and read

    Your download page lists the PDF and the EPUB for each book you bought. Tap the one that suits your device – the guide below tells you which.

Lost the page? It's in your email. Search your inbox for Noel Whittaker Ebooks. If it isn't there, check your Junk, Spam or Promotions folder – some email providers file it there the first time.

PDF or EPUB – which one should I open?

You get both, so there's no wrong choice. As a rule of thumb:

  • EPUB

    Best on phones, tablets and Kindles

    The text reflows to fit your screen and you can make it bigger, change the font and adjust brightness – like a proper ebook.

    Opens in Apple Books (iPhone, iPad, Mac), Google Play Books (Android) and on a Kindle.

  • PDF

    Best on a computer, or for printing

    Looks exactly like the printed book, page for page. Great on a laptop or desktop, and easy to print a chapter.

    Opens in any web browser, Adobe Acrobat Reader (free), or Preview on a Mac.

Step-by-step for your device

Tap your device to see where the file goes after you download it – that's the part that trips most people up.

iPhone or iPad ›
  1. On your download page, tap the EPUB file.
  2. Safari will ask "Do you want to download …?" – tap Download. Not much seems to happen, but a small blue arrow appears at the top of Safari. That's your download.
  3. Tap that arrow, then tap the book's name in the list that drops down.
  4. Tap Open in Books (or the Share icon, then Books). The book is now saved in your Apple Books library, on your bookshelf for good.
Can't see the arrow? Open the Files app on your iPhone (it's already installed – swipe down on your home screen and type "Files" to find it). Look in Downloads. Tap the book, then tap the Share icon and choose Books.
Prefer the PDF? Tap it and it opens straight away in Safari. Tap the Share icon and choose Books to keep it.
Android phone or tablet ›
  1. On your download page, tap the EPUB file. It saves to your phone – you'll see a notification when it's done.
  2. Tap the notification, or open your Files (or My Files) app and look in Downloads.
  3. Tap the book. If your phone asks what to open it with, choose Google Play Books (free from the Play Store if you don't have it). The book is added to your library.
If Play Books doesn't offer to open it, open the Play Books app, tap your profile picture, then Play Books settings and turn on Enable PDF uploading. Any other reading app (Kobo, Moon+ Reader, ReadEra) works just as well.
Prefer the PDF? Tap it and it opens in Chrome or your PDF viewer straight away.
Kindle ›

Kindles don't download files from the web directly – you send the book to your Kindle instead. It takes a minute and it's free. Use the EPUB file.

Easiest way – from your phone:

  1. Download the EPUB to your phone following the iPhone or Android steps above.
  2. Open the file, tap the Share icon and choose Kindle (you need the free Kindle app installed and signed in). Tap Send.
  3. The book appears in your Kindle library within a few minutes, on every device you read on.

From a computer:

  1. Download the EPUB to your computer.
  2. Go to amazon.com/sendtokindle, sign in to Amazon and drag the file onto the page.
You can also email the EPUB to your personal Kindle address (it ends in @kindle.com). Find it in your Amazon account under Content & Devices → Preferences → Personal Document Settings. Send it from the email address registered to your Amazon account.
Windows PC or Mac ›
  1. On your download page, click the PDF file. Most browsers open it straight away in a new tab.
  2. To keep it, click the download (arrow) or save icon at the top of that tab. It goes to your Downloads folder.
  3. Double-click it any time to read. Windows opens PDFs in Edge or Adobe Acrobat Reader; a Mac opens them in Preview.
On a Mac, the EPUB is a nice option too – double-click it and it opens in Apple Books, and syncs to your iPhone and iPad.
On Windows, stick with the PDF unless you already have an EPUB reader. If you need one, Calibre is free.

Something not working?

I didn't get the email ›

It's sent within a minute of your payment. Search your inbox for Noel Whittaker Ebooks, then check Junk, Spam and (in Gmail) the Promotions tab. Work and business email addresses sometimes block it entirely.

Still nothing? Check the address you typed at checkout – a single wrong letter and it goes to the wrong inbox. Email us with your name and we'll resend it to the right address.

I closed the page before downloading ›

No problem – the link in your email opens the same download page. Use it as often as you like.

It downloaded, but I can't find the file ›

It's almost always in a folder called Downloads. On an iPhone or iPad, open the Files app; on Android, the Files or My Files app; on a computer, the Downloads folder. Open your device's panel above for the exact taps.

The file won't open ›

For a PDF, install the free Adobe Acrobat Reader. For an EPUB, use Apple Books (iPhone, iPad, Mac), Google Play Books (Android) or send it to your Kindle – all free. Or simply open the other file: you have both formats.

It says my download limit has been reached, or the link has expired ›

Each file can be downloaded up to 7 times, which is plenty for a few devices. If you've hit the limit – or your link says it has expired – email us with your order number and we'll reset it straight away.

Can I read it on more than one device? ›

Yes. Open your download link on each device you want to read on, or read on one and let Apple Books, Play Books or Kindle sync it to the others. The book is yours – there's no subscription and nothing expires.

All of them are on the one download page, listed one after another with a PDF and an EPUB each. Scroll down.
